Tmpgenc to tmpgenc plus

I was reading somewhere about the upgrades from tmpgenc to tmpgenc plus so i thought id give it a go,now icant open avi files and they say file is unsupported.Wot have i done wrong are there some settings to change?.Cant remember having to change anything with the original version.By the way the files play fine in media player.

Try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority by 1 or 2 and try opening the video.
