I am new to video editing. Tried out my new Sony DCR-TRV27 over the weekend. I was able to make a working DVD from a 10 minute clip using the trial version of Ulead DVD Workshop.
Two questions:
1. I would like to do some editing of the video file prior to burning the DVD, such as taking out some scenes and puttting in fade effects? What program would most easily do this?
2. My computer came with a version of Sonic DVDit SE. But this program doesn't even allow you to capture video from the camcorder, which is why I went with the trial version of Workshop. Would it be best to combine whatever video editing program I use with DVDit or with Workshop?
Thanks.

If you're new to video editing, I think Pinnacle Studio 8 is probably your best bet. Has an intuitive interface and easy to use. Does what you are looking for and more.
