  1. OK here is the deal, I have used TMPEGEnc and VirtualDub to convert DiVX to VCD and burned with Nero and it works fine in my player (Philips DVD740VR) But when I download SVCD's off usenet and burn the resulting Bin/Cue files with Nero, they do not play on my standalone DVD player. I can get them to work fine on my computer with PowerDVD but when attempting to use on the standalone I get an error message that says something like Video play on this disk is disabled or cannot play. Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wroing here.

  2. Looking at the 'DVD Players' section on this site (link on the left of the page), it appears that your player doesn't support SVCD.....

  3. hmmm, yes I see that now, but the documentation from Philips says it will. I will need to do some further investigating. Thanks for your reply and if anyone else has any insights please feel free to chime in.

  4. Airr, aparently this site is more current than Philips own documentation. I tried remultiplexing the Mpeg2 file with TMPEGEng using the VCD Header trick gleaned from this site and it worked. My standalone player will read it now.

  5. Great!

I'd always wondered if the header trick worked....

    Cheers!
