  1. Hi,

I have a Pinnacle DC1000 capture card and I am wanting to create some svcd's.

    DC1000 Information.
    -------------------
I set the template to use in the Pinnacle to be the PAL DC1000. This, according to the notes gives me a 25Mbit/s encoding at a resolution of 720x576 at 25fps. I get the file into the machine and save it to disk.

    TMPGEnc Information.
    --------------------
I take the file created from the Pinnacle and send it through TMPGEnc using the standard SVCD template. The file is fully compliant (Nero doesn't complain).

My problem is that sometimes there is visible blockiness on the SVCD mpg file whether I am playing the file on the computer or on my DVD player. Conversely, if I use TMPGenc with the VCD template it plays really well. I know the resolutions are different but it is seriously blocky sometimes.

I have a number of questions.
    1) For the DC1000, is the template I am using the best one for the job or is there a better template.
    2) Given I have the right template do I need to export the file into a different format to give the optimal file for downsampling to SCVD.
    3) I read in the DC1000 manual that the format used is the IPPP format yet the translation to SVCD format uses IPB format. Again is this okay to use.
    4) I need to have 50minutes on an SVCD using a 700MB CD. Is it better to use the 2 pass VBR, constant quality or constant bit rate under the TMPGEnc SVCD template to achieve the desired results.

Thanks in advance for any help, please give me specifics

    Colin.

  2. Try this enable Inverse Telescene under video tab and set it the the following:
Motion adaptive and set the threash hold to zero.

Then goto the CQ seting and enter 2080 kbs as the max bitrate. set the sider at.

    (Your target bitrate)+24/30*(Your target bitrate)
    -------------------------------------------------
    2080 KBS*2

This is the proper setting for the from of bitrate controll.
