Anyone with a modchip can now play DivX on their PS2. Released a few days ago, the PS2Reality mediaplayer allows playback of DivX on any modified PS2 (modchip is needed to run homebrew software, which this player is.)

This is NOT a fake. This one actually works.

Great news for anyone with a modchip (me ). Have fun

EDIT: unlike the other PS2 mediaplayer 'Qcast', this one doesn't require your Ps2 to be networked to the PC or anything. With this player you simply burn the DivX file to the CD with the player, and stick it in your PS2.

  2. There has been a few hypes / scams in the past. If this is true, it's a great thing (though a little bit late since the PS2 has been around for ages).

Can anyone confirm this? And if so, how well does it work? What spec DivX files have you gotten it to work with?

    Regards.

I guarantee you its 100% legitmate. Go check out some PS2 "backup" sites, and see for yourself. Lots of discussion on it, etc.

I'm not sure how reliable this info is since it misses a few important points, like the PS2Reality site being all in spanish, the fact that the package hasn't been available on their for a couple of weeks due to server overloading and that the info/download mirrors page is quite difficult to find.

I believe that it does work but I'm not about to make any guarantees without having tried it. legionpc, have you actually tried it or seen it running firsthand???

as a gamer I could tell you.
DIVX on Ps2 is old news. Buy the Linux box for the PS2 and then download a Divx player from the network using ur PS2...

  6. yes, true.. it is out (has been for a few weeks), it does work, but it's a little buggy still.

sometimes i have problems with the vid freezing, and it seems at lower bitrates i get a green strip at the bottom of the screen, the vid is not smooth and than the playback freezes.. beeds a litle work, but most idvx's i have work fine

  7. Yes, been out for a bit, isn't all that it is hyped up to be.

Besides the Linux way, there is Qcast Station which let's you play movies from your comp onto the PS2 through the network adapter. I do not own the network adapter so I can not confirm how it plays.
