  1. I had an old Toshiba dvd player for several years, but I just got a new Sony which I really like. It has progressive scan feature on it. Unfortunatly, I am somewhat ignorant as to what this actually is. Can someone kinda explain what the difference is with progressive scan vs. just normal dvd player. I know its better quality, but is that because its higher resolution. And I was wondering if when you watch a dvd on my cpu monitor if that is "progressive scan". Im also confused about high definition and how it works. Can someone help an idiot out??

    High Definition Television:
The term "High Definition Television" is considered anything that is better than what we get today. Any scan line count greater than 480 is generally considered "High Definition". Even 480 lines transmitted as progressive scan is considered a "High Definition" image. The top of the heap would be the 1080 line HDTV (and even further in image size)
