read error in TMPGEnc, how do you solve?

Hi there,

I'm trying to convert DVD to VCD. I used sefy's newby guide. I used Smartripper, then DVD2AVI then TMPGEnc. Everything is fine until i hit start in TMPGEnc then after a while, i get a "read error at XXXXXXXX of module TMPGEnc.exe with XXXXXXXX."

I'll start over and i'll get the same error at a different place. anyone know any fixes for this?

Hi as no-one has replied I thought I would, the only thing I can think of is have you unzipped TMPGenc and DVD2AVI in the same folder?

i think i did. but in case i didn't, should i uninstall then re-unzip after placing in the same folders?

That certainly might help, I suggest you get TMPGENc 2.59, as the single zip comes with both TMPGEnc and the VFP

i recently got it to work without that error popping up wihtout having to uninstall and re-unzip in the same folder.

Sefy, if you're still tuning in, from your guide, you have two links to download tmpgenc, one plain and one with the vf thingy. both links seem to take me to the same place and i downloaded both but they seem to be the same program. are they different?

One of the links is for the TMPGEnc and the other for TMPGEnc Plus.
In the past, the TMPGEnc Plus download area didn't have the VFP download.
Now that they include it within the same package, it will need a bit of an update, thanks for the concern 8)
