  2. I think I am in the same position as you I have a Digital Camcorder sony PC5 and a Pioneer A03 DVD-R.

I would like to see my movies in the Playstation 2 I just did a research on:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdmedia

and it looks that not all DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW work.

Up to now it seams that some Princo has work for some and some Ritek too have work for some. I read too that not all Playstation 2 have the same DVD-ROM reader and also depending on the version of your playstation you have to use some chip and for other version other chip. I read that there is a new chip (Just came out) out there that can work on any model but it requires 20 soldering cable inside, are you willing to take that risk?

    I just order from http://www.allmediaoutlet.com/dvdr.html 10 Princo DVD-r and 10 DVD-RW and 10 Ritek DVD-R and DVD-RW to see what works.

Of course I am looking for someone locally that will take the risk to order the chip and has done some work on the playstation 2 too.

The same goes for Xbox there is version 1 and version 1.1 (also called version 2) version 1 doesnt play CD-R (there are a very few rare ones) but plays CD-RW and for the version 1.1 some have said that some have a Samsung DVD-ROM that does play CD-R but the problem is that they werent able to hook the chip on V1.1 they now about the samsung DVD-rom because some rare V1 came with it. The good news is that there is also a new chip for the xbox that can also load 4 bios and it will do the trick.

There is a Media player for the xbox that it suppose to play Divx and xvid.

Do some research locally maybe you may have some friend that know electronics and soldering. If you open your box you void the warranty.

  3. Soldering your PS2 is not an easy task. You can very easily destroy your system. If you are not absolutely sure of your soldering skills do not attemp it. If you do decide to to complete the project yourself I strongly urge to to use the razor blade soldering method.

If you would like someone else to install it for you visit http://www.modchips-usa.com/contact.html
They did a great job on mine.

It says that there is a Magic 3.5
I am new at this I have a neo 2 and hating it, it can play Playstation 1 but I dont play game I got my playstation because someone owed me and gave me the playstation as payment.

$80? Too funny. The total cost on the chip is under $8 in bulk. Of course you have to have the technical knowhow to program them.
