I have one. It played all my vcds fairly well until it finally killed my laser after about 3 months. What they don't tell you is that the PSX was never meant to constantly read from a disk for 2 hours at a time. You'll notice that when you play games it will stop sometimes for 5 mins or so, and it will only actually spin during certain parts.

This definitely will not play SVCDs. If you spend another $20 you could get a cheap dvd player that would play VCDs and SVCDs and it would last alot longer than your psx laser would.

I have had one for 1 year.
I use it at least twice a week just for VCD's.
    My laser hasnt burnt out.
You must have constantly played it right after watching the movie.
If you read the instruction booklet(which you probably didn't) They say to wait for 30 min after watching the movie. This helps cool the laser down, and not destroy it. You can also always buy a new laser from www.liksang.com
    They are pretty cheap.
I have a PSone with a modchip, VCD card, LCD Screen, ANd a battery pack that lasts 4.5 hrs.
I have not had any trouble with it.

I have video carde for the psx too. I personaly think that it suck. I will kill your lense. And who have time to wait for 30 min for another movie. You can get a DVD for less then $100 these day and I'm not talking about apex dvd(they drop vcd).
The suck thing about the psx video card.
    Can't zoom.
    2x forward/rewind
    No SVCD
    It will kill your lense.
There is always one who is always greater. Never give up.
