SVCD troubles

I have been burning vcd and svcd for a few months now, not an expert by any means though. I have some svcd disks that will work in my DVD palyer, however, anything I used NERO express to make an svcd disk, will not play at all! I do not have the original files anymore , is there a way to convert them back to avi and try burning them with vcdeasy, or another program that may work? I tried to convert them and then reburn them and it comes out shaky with visible defects, digitizing etc. I didn't see any guides for this, am I outta luck or just stupid?

Don't burn your VCD's or SVCD's with Nero Express. Burn them with VCDEasy or the regular Nero and see if that helps. :P
