  1. Cmon guys it cant be so difficult but so far nobody was able to help me maybe you.

    I try to make avi(pal)-> svcd with cce and the problem is without using pulldown on my mpv(pal) file it keeps skippin not quite skipping but its not smooth even on my pc but when I use pulldown the movie plays perfect but it is out of sync!!
    Strange I know but thats the way it is.

    Could it be the way I encode it???

    1. Virtualdub -> save wav and avi
    2. Resize and frameserve with virtualdub : settings=audio ->avi audio checked cause otherwise cce crash!!
    3.Encode with cce
    4.Pulldown the mpv file
    5.Multiplex with bbmpeg
    Result: Smooth video but out of sync
    Or Skip step 4 without pulldown
    Result: Sync but the video is not smooth kind of skipping even on my pc!!

    NTSC files are perfect but all pal movies are tripping WHY???

    Hope someone can help me cause Im a little desperate.

    Thanks

    You should not be performing PULLDOWN. PAL should be 25fps. Use AVISynth, and the command:

    AssumeFPS(25)

    This will stretch your video from 23.976 to 25 fps. This assumes that your source is FILM (23.976 frames per second).

    If your source is 29.97 fps, then you will have to do a bit more work. If your source is telecined to 29.976 fps, then you should be able to perform an inverse telecine to return it to it's original format. See www.lukesvideo.com for information (Classifying Hi-Res video).

    If your source is not telecined, but rather true interlaced material at 29.976, then there is not clean way of reverting the video to PAL, without dropping frames, or performing some sort of merge with the extra 4 frames. Check the guides sections, there are a multitude of NTSC to PAL guides. You should also be able to find a few on www.doom9.org

    This begs the question, why are you converting to PAL? Most PAL dvd players (and newer TV's so they say) handle NTSC sources without a problem.

    I'm not sure where your having a problem. Some things to verify.

    Check your avi's resolution. It should be a standard PAL resolution for the format your aiming for.

    Check your avi's framefrate. It should be 25 fps

    Do not peform pulldown, or as you already have found, your audio will be out of sync.

    Make sure CCE is set to the following:

    Video Encoding Mode: MPEG-2 (Program Stream)

    Bitrate: Avg: 2524

    ( Under the Video, GOP, & Audio Button )
    <System Tab>
    Packet Size: 2048

    <Video Tab>
    Leave everything unchecked for this
    Set Aspect Ratio to 4:3
    Luminance Level: 16-235
    Timecode: SET TO ALL Zeros ( 00:00:00:00 )
    <GOB Tab>
    Accept the Defaults
    Nothing checked
    <Audio Tab>
    Bitrate (try 256 kbits here)
    Stereo mode: Joint Stereo
    Samp Freq: 44100

    ( Under the Quality Settings Button )
    <Image Quality Priority>
    Set this to 5

    <anti noise filter>
    Leave this unchecked

    Click the MATRICES button
    set the PRESET setting to MPEG STANDARD

    Give these settings a try, and see what you get.

  5. Thanks so far for your support but I cant encode the audio with CCE so I have to leave it unchecked otherwise CCE crash. Maybe this is the problem I have to encode audio and video seperate, so the result is out of sync!!

    Not a problem. Select MPEG-2 (Elementary Stream, CBR) instead of Program Stream.

    Make sure 'Audio File' is not checked.

  7. I tried what you said but only a green screen appeard.
    Sorry but didnt find any system tab for the packed size maybe thats why bbmpeg complained about buffer underflow and I use CCE 2.50 and in this version MATRICE is not featured I got the 2.64 version too but I cant add *.vdr files and when I add avi files and try to encode it = Read only 0 byte expecting 8 bytes?????

    What options are you using in CCE that give you the Jerky video?

    When you encode with CCE, what is the end result? Specifically, the frames per second, and bitrate? Use MPEGProperties (see the TOOLS section) to view this info.

  11. Finaly!!!

    Thanks man got it now my fault was when I tried to resize in VirtualDub I entered 480*480 but Pal movies are 480*576 so thats why it was jerky!!

    I've made similar mistakes before, with things like bitrate, aspect ratio, and even resolution. MPEG Properties is handy for that kind of troubleshooting. I don't know why windows won't display basic MPEG Info, like it does for AVI. I wonder if there is a util out there that will add the feature to WinBlows?

    This reminds me of GSpot, cept maybe a bit slicker. Still no plugin for the windows interface though. Handier than launching a secondary program, and browsing for your MPEG/AVI's. This one does support drag and drop though.
