  4. This is a strange 1....If there sueing Dvd x Copy then y not sue all of the software companys !! for cdr and dvd copying...

Or Should they sue the Companys who make the writers,if there wre no writers there would be no copying of anything....

What about the makers of the Blank disks!!

if they got a problem with copying they should be at the source i.e the companys who make the hardware........

the problem they have now is that (in the uk) everyboby has a writer as a 48x is only £40. Just about the same as a cd-rom.....

    Blank cdr`s £15 for 100
    Blank dvd`s around £1 each

so if we want to copy anything it costs nothing ...

  5. Please actually try to understand the situation.

DVDXCOPY is the commercial example of a breach of the DMCA. There is nothing wrong with backing up stuff you own (as per Fair Usage). There is, however, serious problems if you create and sell a tool to circumvent a digital copy protection device (i.e., CSS).

Basically, 321 Studios don't have legs to stand on. They will lose this case.

The studio's may win the case, but wont win the War!.

They fail to realise there are several million challenged individuals
who consider it a duty to bypass such protection.

Hence they will never win the war.

  7. maybe we can still get derrow back, pls send him money...

any thread bout derrow is a good one, cause if it wasn't
for him, we all would just have data discs right?

  8. No, they won't win the "war"...

Backing up material you own is your right and should not be arbitrarily blocked by digital impediments like CSS.

However, how 321 Studios is going at it is bad. They will lose the case and quite possibly damage the "moral" position of the part of the community that believes that protection of digital copyright systems that strip the consumer of legal means of fair use is wrong.

As 321 studios described on their website,
Their product is not a DeCSS. It just copys the video from the hard drive as it eventually gets there by playing from the DVD player so it doesn't violate the DMCA or am I missing something?

I'm at the point where I don't even care about the LEGAL aspect. I'm to the point where I just want to tell the MPAA, RIAA, and every other association to eat a grenade. Sorry, but I'm just kinda pissy right now.

I would counter that as irrelevant.

It gets around CSS encryption -- thus a "DeCSS" device.
