  1. I purchased a ten pack of TDK DVD-R's 2x and burned every one of them perfectly. I went to get some more, but CompUsa was out, so I purchased a 15 pack of Verbatim DVD+R's, which I read under media on this site were compatible. These disks are 2.4x, and when Nero burns the disk, it burns it at 100% in about 20 minutes, but then I get an invalid filed in command, could not perform end of disc at once error, and a burn processfailed error. I tried this a couple of different ways, and I got the same error everytime. I figured it might be the burn speed of Nero which was at 2.5x, I know the DRU500A only supports up to 2x, but under the write speed of Nero, (I am using 5.5.17), I don't see any option for a 2x write speed. Only 2.5x, and when I take a DVD+R out, I get two options for speed. One is 2.5x, and the other is 3.1x. Does anyone know how I can change the write speed to 2x in Nero? This is very odd, because if it is the speed that is the case, how was I able to burn ten DVD-R's at 2.5x with no problem. Those all burned in about 25 minutes. I would appreciate any help with this

  2. You say you have Nero 5.5.17. Not sure what that means since the latest version is 5.5.9.17.1. Anyway if you have this version, you'll get closing problems as mentioned in this thread (which is still on the first page in the forum). You need to use 5.5.9.17.0

  3. you're wrong... the dvd+r speed of the sony dru 500a is 2,4x... ti's the standard speed for a dvd+r... like the dvd+rw... read carefully the caracteristics of your dvdr writer and you can notice it:

    1x,2x,4x for dvd-r
    2x for dvd-rw
    2.4 x for dvd+r, dvd+rw

Your problem is to close the cd... and it's a problem of the nero version... you must update it... like defense told you before...

  4. thanks for the replies. Until yesterday, I wasn't exactly sure what the difference was between the (+) (-) format, but now I am very familiar. Apparently the (+) format burns faster and is a little more expensive. At Best Buy they had 15 Verbatim DVD Blanks of both (+) and (-) for the same exact price. The problem was definitiely closing out the DVD. However,"only" with the (+) format at 2.4x. When I tried the (-) verbatim format, no problems. Thanks for your help, I will update Nero.
