  1. This really works. At least on my DVD player. The quality is outstanding. Check this site out: www.kvcd.net
It takes quite a long time if you are trying to encode the audio and video at the same time in TMPGenc, but definitely worth it.

  3. I have a two year old Philips/Magnavox DVD player. Do not know the model. In TMPGenc using a compressed 128kbps audio file it took about 12 hours to complete. It was a 117 minute movie. I have a 2.4 GHz on a 533Mhz bus PC. A regular 2 hour MPEG-1 file usually only takes about 2 hours on my PC. I believe this is the reason at www.kvcd.net they suggest you convert the video alone without the audio and then later on mux the audio with the video.

  4. Although kwags' templates are good, you can do it all on your own by following this guide and get the same results(encodes faster too):

  5. Hi MOVIEGEEK,

The methods provided in the link above are very old. These have been superceded by file prediction methods and programs, combined with SansGrip filters, and used in conjunction with KVCD templates. Read here:
    http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1729
    And here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=9
The quality produced with these new methods is far beyond regular MPEG parameters ( standard gop's, matrices ) produced with regular templates and standard MPEG parameters.

    Merry Xmas,
