Is it possible to burn with dvd-r discs and make it dvd+r if your burner is only a dvd+r burner. I noticed they are cheaper discs.
where can i get the cheapest media that will work?

Nope.
a DVDR disc have a ID applied to that would make the Burner
refuse to burn to it if it is not the right format.
Second, -R and +R are not pre-formated the same way.
2X DVD-R cost the same as 2.4X DVD+R,
about $2 each at regular stores such as Bestbuy and CompUSA.
