  1. Hi there everyone

I've been playing around with my Divx movies and finally came to making a menu for one of them a few days back. But i've hit a snag, i converted my movie using TMPGenc and i lowered the sound to a rating i know workshop will be okay with. I designed my menu with two screen.

First screen:- 1.Play Movie, 2.Chapter Page
Second Screen:- Set of 7 chapters

Here is where i reach my problem, when i select anything from either the first or second menu. For instance if on menu 1, i select "Play movie". It takes me to the beginning and then for some reason it repeats a section of the film. Say for example someone is walking passed the camera, suddenly it will step back 3-4 seconds and show them walking past again.

This is happening with all of my chapters too, is it a DVD problem or something to due with workshop. I've ticked the "Do not convert" box, but i'm still certain that it is converting my mpeg as the quality is terrible compared to the source file.

Hope some of you might be able help.
    Thanks
    Jim

P.S Just check the prefs and deselected "VCD compliant". Going to try writing another disc now, just to see if it fixes my problems.

  2. I'm new to DVD WS too. And, I'm not at home with the software in front of me. Just by memory, if you go to the Edit section and look at the bottom of the screen and make sure the frame at the left side on the bottom is empty. If there is a tilte (clip) dropped into that frame, it would play it for a few seconds and then get to the main clip. So, you may have the tiltle (movie clip) dropped into two places at the bottom. It may have gone into the first frame as well as the second frame at the bottom.

    Hope I've made myself clear.

  3. I followed what you suggested, but nope there was no extra films in the edit section. I have a funny feeling it is the actual mpeg video that is at fault. But when i burn it to disc with nero, the video on its own plays fine. I've done other cd's with dvd workshop, but this is the only time i have had it mess me around like this.

    Thanks

    Has anyone got any idea's??

  4. I am new to Workshop too, but as I recall if you set the video bitrate less than the bitrate you encoded the video to in TMPEG, workshop will reencode at the lower bit rate. This works for me:

In TMPEG, ensure you are encoding the files to a DVD compliant standard in TMPEG.

In Workshop, I always select custom, then set the frame size to the same as I encoded in TMPEG and set the the bitrate to 8000 to force it not to reencode (it can't increase the bitrate). Similarly, set the audio to exactly as encoded in TMPEG.

As you said, you should also select "don't convert compliant files".

Also, download the 1.3 patch from ftp://ws13p:ws13p@cs.ulead.com/

    Hope this helps.

I have noticed that the motion menus function does not exist on the version I am using. What could be the problem there?

  6. Hi there

I'm using version on, where exactly can i change the bit rate settings?

Does anyone know the precise settings that workshop likes in a NSTC VCD Film. I'm using TMPGEnc, and encoding my film as NSTC Film. I'm setting the quality to High (Slow).

I might go back and try making a totally new menu. Could be a fault with the current one. Might i do well to install the 1.2 trial?? Would that make a difference?

    Thanks everyone

  7. i think the problem is that you are using a 23.97 framerate.
when you choose your chapters in dvdworkshop, you will see that
the chapter begins not where you wanted it to.
take notice when you are selecting your chapters, and you will see
that the screenshot is not where you wanted it to be.
if you convert the movie to 29.97 - you will have no problems.

you can use a program called "pulldown" to make the movie 29.97
if you dont want to convert the movie again.

    hope this helps

  8. I'll give it a try, but i've done it once before with a 23.97FR film and it worked ok. To be more precise it was the exact same film, except i've made a better quality version as a finally CD. And it's now complaining about it. The only difference is that i used KVCD's templates on the last version, but i didn't like the mpeg quality. And it wasn't compatible with the Toshiba DVD player we have.

That 1.3 patch wouldn't install for me

    Thanks
