  1. Hi,

I just received a VCD. I have received them before and recognise the file folders and .dat file as familiar looking. I burned the folders, including the .dat file, to a CD and took it upstairs but it won't play in the DVD player. The DVD player is CD-compatible and has played VCDs before.

Also, when I play a VCD in the DVD player one indicator light comes on telling me that it recognises the media as a CD. When I popped this one in all three indicator lights came on (CD, DVD, and one other that I forget right now) indicating that it could not read the CD.

Someone else suggested that this file may not be what it appears. Is this possible? Is there something going on here that I need to know about?

Sure hope someone can help in here. 8<)

    Thanks,

    Dave

  2. Try converting from .dat to mpeg using VCDGEAR.

  3. Can you tell if the disk is a CD-R or a CD-RW? It could matter for your player. Go to the DVD Players link in the left hand column and verify what your player can/can't do.

Or... Is it possible it's a bad disk?

    Good Luck.
