Sorry for all my posts recently, just real curious and anxious to learn..
I have been using simple resize in the "Frameserving" tab in DVD2SVCD..
I am using this for the encoding time, my athlon 950 with 256 sdram isnt the fastest to say the least when it comes to encoding..
I have read that simple is real close to bicubic in quality terms, but I have yet to try bicubic because of the extra decoding time..
Heck it takes me bout 12 hours for a 2 hour movie in cce with a 4 pass VBR..
So does bicubic make a noticeable difference?

Yes, "bicubic" resize is overall best when down-sizing or up-sizing as it keeps the sharpness. I recommend using "bicubic" resize instead of simple resize.
Hope That Helps!!!:P

you should ask the question - is 4 passes over a video enough or overkill
I normally don't go over 3 as I can't see the improvment.
This would save a lot more time than any optimised filter
