  1. I hope someone here can help me. I have a dvd rom on my computer and when you insert a disk the light just blinks like it is reading it and then goes off. When I go to My Computer and click E. (dvd rom drive), it tells me to insert a disk when there is a dvd in it already. When I try to insert it again it tells me the same thing. HELP!!!!!!!

is this just one particular dvd disk?
    do regular CDs work?
    did it ever work?
did you try killing the DVD drive from device manager, and rebooting?
have you attempted update fireware lately?

  4. I tried several cds and dvds and they all don't work. How do I kill the drive as is stated in previous post? I'm trying to see if there is an update for the dvd rom. Everything was working fine and then tried using it yesterday and nothing.

    If your in win95/98/(ME?)
Right click on my computer, and go to properties..
then go to the 'Device Manager' Tab
Hit the plus sign next to 'DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES'
you should see your DVD drive here, right click, and choose remove
    then reboot...
