when i use smartripper, dvd2avi, and tmpgenc, i get the first half of my movie correct, but in the second half, the audio is out of sync. are there any settings that i could adjust in order to fix this? everything is fine except for the audio problem.

I am not familiar with the first two programs you mentioned. But is there a way to copy the audio from the original video file from where the second video begins? Then save this audio as a wave file, then use TMPGEnc to remux the new audio with the video for the second part of your movie.
