  3. not sure if I understand the question - or if it is one question or two?

    A lot of sound editors can open avi files & extract the audio - I know SoundForge can, I think GoldWave can, and I suspect CoolEdit can.

    I'm not so sure about different codecs though - xvid and ac3 etc...

    so tmpgenc can rip to wav from Avi file and also from mpeg2 file?

  6. When you say sync problem do you mean when you encode. Are you trying to save a VBR audio stream as an uncompressed PCM wav file. If so make sure you set the audio to full processing mode and not direct stream copy.
