  1. Is it possible to just copy a DVD to several CDs? I'm very interested in good image quality and I don't care how many CDs I use. Is there some way to just split the files between CDs so that you can watch them at their original quality on several CDs?

    Thanks.

  2. You could make a series of miniDVDs WITHOUT re-encoding it...

However, consider that a movie on a DVD can be say 7 Gb in size.

An 80min CD can hold 700MB of data in MODE1 / MODE2 Form1 sectors (which you will be making essentially with miniDVD).

That is, your movie is going to fit on 10 CDs... You'll be getting up every 10-15 minutes.

This is not to mention that the vast majority of DVD players don't want anything to do with miniDVDs...

If you want very good quality, I suggest you have a look at SVCD and CVD. Higher bitrate versions of SVCD (and CVD) -- i.e., XSVCD -- can give very good quality video indeed. These are more likely to work than miniDVD. How much you fit on the disc (i.e., what bitrate you choose) will be ultimately up to you.

    Regards.
