Weird playing of a decoded movie

I went home for Thanksgiving and decided to bring my machine and decode some movies for my parents. They have a Mintek 2580 dvd player. Well I decoded a movie in VCD format and played it in the player and it played fine for a few minutes. Then after awhile the video was acting wierd. What would happen is the audio would be perfectly fine. But the video would speed up and would be off sync, then it'd slow dow and resync. Or it'd slow down and it'd be off sync, so it'd speed back up. It looked like it would happen mostly when it was a dark picture. Any ideas?

Dangit... the first time I didn't use search. I found a post with the same problem, but the problem wasn't solved there either.
