  1. Like the title says..... Can you add music to a VCD menu? and if so, how do you do it?... and will it need to be in .WAV format?

  2. Two ways:
    1. Use a video clip for your menu.

Advantages: works with just about every player
Disadvantages: limited to the relatively low resolution of video clips for VCDs (352 x 240/288 ).
    2. Use an audio only segment play item with a high resolution still: http://www.geocities.com/mikk999/StillsWithAudio.htm

Advantages: audio with high resolution still menus
Disadvantages: relatively poorly supported on stand-alone players.

You can in Ulead DVD Movie Factory. Look at number 4.

As you can see, you can use mp3's.

yes, but the best choice could be a mp2 @ 224kb/s
It is the native audio format for vcds

I'm guessing whether you use .mp3 or .wav, DMF converts it, because the menu file (with background music added) shows up in the Segment folder on the authored disc as a .dat file, and when you open it up in WMP 6.4 and look at Properties/Advanced, it shows the MPEG audio decoder being used, not Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 per se. Therefore, I don't think it's necessary to have a stand-alone that supports .mp3's.

    probably...
I only one used mp3, and didn't work to non mp3 compatible standalones. That was back my VCD days... (way back, ancient years... :P )

With mp2 I have success to most standalones I tried and in a way that is logical since this is the native for VCD/SVCD and it can be used by DVD also.
