  1. A recent article at PC World states that:
Only one drive (Sony's DRU-500A) currently ships with Mt. Rainier support built in, and its primary benefits--the ability to read discs without the aid of third-party software installed, and the ability to use defect management--won't be available until Microsoft integrates Mt. Rainier into the next full revision of Windows.
I've looked everywhere including Sony's site and no where does it mention that the DRU-500A supports Mt. Rainier. In fact Nero's InfoTool says it doesn't. DirectCD does not support it either (DVD+RW's only list Quick Format I believe, but they don't say "EasyWrite" meaning it isn't Mt. Rainier).

Is the article wrong or does the DRU-500A actually support Mt. Rainier?

If it does I'm assuming it will need a firmware patch to activate since no software seems to acknowlege that it supports it.

  4. I sent her off an email; hope she responds.

I'm surprised the DRU-500A does not support Mt. Rainier as Sony is one of the 4 companies promoting Mt. Rainier.
