  1. this isnt a request for warez, or an offer either;

has anyone downloaded a good version of the windows xp pro corp ed w/ sp1 intergrated?

so far i've downloaded the 'ftfiso' & the 'reformation' versions..

the 'ftfiso' version wouldnt boot up and when i tried an install from within windows it just scewed up the windows install i had going.. but luckily i had a powerquest drive image backup of it and was able to restore it in 5 minutes.. this was just a waste of a cd-r..

the 'reformation' version was weird.. when i mounted the disc image through daemon tools, but i didnt get any autorun screen.. so i tried running setup from the disc.. no dice, it just brought up a dos window and nothing happened.. i didnt even burn it on a cd-r to see if it would work. because if its not going to let me upgrade, or attempt a clean install from within windows then its not worth it..

are there any other versions of this out there, and do they work? if so who's version works? once again, i'm not asking for a link or for you to send it to me. i'm just curious who has a working version of it..

    thanks for your time.

  2. I own XP Pro corp ed, but haven't tried sp1 yet. I will wait another week to see if there are any benefit out of this release. I think microsoft release full version.

One of my friends complain that this SP1 made his computer slower than before. And i'm waiting anybody elses to post the result of ungrading. I will post my result here whenever I installed SP1 into my system.

  3. just installed that darned think this morning after coming back to winXP (professional version I think). anyway i didn't notice any difference and only bothered to do it because M$ no longer provides users with the java virtual machine. They now have it on the sp1 so I had no choice

Still I wouldn't trust much in those ISOs that jeex downloaded

  4. ya_jail,

i'm talking about the corparate edition w/ sp1 intergrated. that means when i do a clean install, sp1 is already there. i dont have to download it and install it.

    superdementia,

i think you have an option on whether to use the virtual java machine, its that new doj options thing they have going. just go to add/remove programs, its the extra icon on the left at the bottom

Sorry, i've seen no such thing, and I doubt its likely to happen for a while. On a side not my bootup time with SP1 seemed a little slower, then I realized that the last part slowed down and I got extra speed in other places so I kinda balaced out for me. Of course my system is very fast already so mine not exactly the best "average" PC to go by.

  6. Yeah i don't think that will come out just yet. Microshit released full version for SP1 on September 9th. You might have to wait a while longer thou.

@Supreme you don't have to upgrade to SP1 just becuz of java. You can find the java download file all over the net. I think there is one post on the forum as well. Or you can use Sun Java also.

Sunjava is great as long as the computer is decent speed and the app your running is written in real java instead of MS... on the bad side popcap games and such tend to run like crud.

Personally I think its all a side effect of MS poisioning the java language and ruining its cross platform compatability. For example apple has a fine javaVM but anything that was made for MSjava runs like crud under it... kinda sad really.

Yea, I think it made my system i teeny tiny bit slower... That was only the first time I booted it up with XP and SP1 after I rebooted it went normal speed again.

    I run:
    AMD Athlon XP 1600+
    ECS K7S5A
Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 1
