Ok ... im gonna buy a camcorder soon and use Adobe Premiere or some other program to cut clips.. i need to know if there is a camcorder than can easily have movie files imported to my computer so i can cut them, etc. I know how to convert and whatnot.. All i need to know is if there is an easy program where i can send whats happening on the camcorder right to my computer and how much that kind of camcorder will cost me. I want to make movies to burn to VCD/SVCD and eventually DVD when i get a DVD/RW Drive. Thanks for the help.

You just need a DV cam with a firewire port and a firewire card to connect it to, if you dont already have a firewire port on your computer. Though if you're going to get that may as well look for a cam with line in and pass thru so you can use it for capturing from your VCR etc as well.

Don't know what the cams cost but a firewire card for your PC can be had for as little as $15 and should include some software for capturing/transferring from the cam or you can use a free program like DVIO or spend $33 on a really good one called Scenalyzer Live.

  3. try using mgi videowave 5 for capturing and editing/authoring your movies as this software is very user friendly

(Bondiablo) was right that u need a firewire and they are really cheap !

i put all my movies onto dvdr but used to use svcd and believe me i have tried every program going and mgi is by far the easiest that will do all u need

Thanks!!! Does it really matter what kind of camcorder i get? I think i should i get DVcam? is this correct? Can I use a camcorder that uses a Physical Tape and still get it to firewire to my computer? again, thanks.

even DV cams have physical tapes, it's just their own little DV tapes but yeah it'll have to be a DV cam to do this.
