DVD5 which is the best way to back up?

I use DVD Decrypter to rip ALL THE FILES ON THE DVD
then I would like to Use Gearpro to burn them, but gearpro wants a .m2v in order to burn.

when i burn a dv9 i use
dvd decrypter
dvd2avi
tmpg?
chapter extractor
gear pro.

I can burn dvd9's very easy but would like to be able to do the dvd 5's using these programs. I also have speed ripper and ifoedit but am not as familiar with those.

Just use DVD Decrypter to ISO read it to HD, then ISO write to DVD-R

gear pro gives me the option of creating DVDROM (ISO/UDF) is this the option i should use?

I agree with rhuala2. DVD Decrypter is by far the easiest way to back up DVD5's. You get an exact copy.

As far as the UDF/ISO, that's what I use in Nero 5.5.9

New to this guys so please don't blow me away, but what do you think about dvdxcopy? All my friends are recomending it. Any thoughts or opinions.

I haven't tried xcopy but i have read alot about it. If you go to there site, www.dvdxcopy.com and click on forum there are hundreds of user comments. Some good, Some bad.

Personally, I paid for DVD Split from Derrow's site and it works great. $25.00. Although the user guide isn't in great detail and they forgot to tell you about a box to check, it's an awesome little program.

I think DVDxCopy is great for someone that doesn't know computers or is too lazy to read a few tutorials. I can get the program for free if I want, I just don't see a need for it. I have complete control over my ripping and encoding as is right now. Say for example you have a comedy DVD that is 4.5GB. DVDxXopy will copy this spanning 2 discs. I would compress it down a little and make it fit one DVD with no noticable drop in quality on my 50" TV.

Also DVDxCopy adds a watermark to its copies so that it won't copy its copies. Also, I actually like stripping away all the menu and extra crap 90% of the time. I will also copy epsiode DVD's like Southpark and strip away only the epsidoes I like, so for example I may like 6 of 21 season 1 episodes that I can fit on 1 DVD, with DVDcCopy it will double every DVD so you will probably end up with like 10 DVD's (5 x 2). Anyways, if you're lazy or aren't good at figuring things out and don't mind having a shiit load of extra DVD's and never want to copy your copies then go for it, I guess.

Actually the first 2 probably cover 95% of DVD's, the last one is kind of spcific and I only ever needed once. Good luck

I think DVDXCOPY owns so far, it has nothing to do with being too lazy or not knowing anything about computers. It just simplifies everything...isn't that what we all want? I've used other methods to rip DVD's to DVD-R, I've ripped Sopranos, Spider-Man etc...but this program helped me out when I was having trouble doing Attack of the Clones, splitting to 2 DVD's...it was just giving me a friggin headache. This program did it for me and kept the menus....I think it's great. Worth a purchase..cough cough...yeah.
