  1. I have many VHS tapes that I what to convert to a DVD format. Right now I own a Dazzle Digital Video Creator 80 to capture the VHS tapes. Should I get something else to capture or convert the analog tapes?
I have a Panasonic DV-400 camcorder. I doesn't have a analog passthrough to record the VHS tapes to DV. I would like that so I could just download the video to my computer and not lose any frames or quality. Also, what format size is VHS? I'm looking for the whole story on how to put my VHS tapes to DVD-R's.

    Thank You,
    Craig

  2. You need to do more reading and experiimenting those are way too general questions. I would recommend start capturing with CVD 352x480 format, find encoding template in tools section. Then try different bitrates depending on your mediums size and the quality of ur original tapes. Do that for awhile then you'll come back with more specific questions. Capture 1 min segments of same section. Use Radlight or some other media player along with windows player. Then play the captures side by side to detect quality differences.

  3. There's many ways of doing what you are asking. If you are unhappy with your Dazzle card and want to capture in DV, some would suggest a Canopus ADVC-100. For DVD burners, you may want to look at the Sony DRU500A. The DVD burner usually comes with the necessary software. Although, TMPGEnc is a must for encoding.
