  1. So I go to the store that sells recordable media, it's my usual place, and they give me a nice discount when the owner tells me that a guy came to their shop and purchase a couple of Ritek 1X silvertops saying that he wanted to test them on his new burner, the DVR-105. Very next day, he comes in asking for a cakebox...apparently, his DVR-105 burned these particular DVD-Rs at 4X! He did nothing to his firmware, and he did no adjusting of the hardware.

Anyway, I'm not a gullible person, but the owner of the shop seems to believe the fella. The shop owner also said that it may have to do with the fact that the Riteks the dude purchased were manufactured very recently.

So I bought a stack...and I'll let you know what my findings are later.

Just wondering what everyone else's exp has been with this drive and if they've heard of this or if they know of any firmware that allows their DVR-105 to burn 1X media at 2X or higher.

    Thanks

no they will not burn at 4x but prassi will say it is burning at 4x .. but if you time it , you can rapidly figure it out ...

some disks i can tell prassi to burn at even 8x and it says it is .. though it isnt ..

  3. hehe hope that guy didn't simply rely on Prassi!
I noticed the same thing with the 1x DVD-RW that came with the Cendyne, said 2x in Prassi but timing it took care of that clam!

  4. Wow!!! Are you sure?? Ritek 1x can be burn at 4X??? WOW... that is unbelievable??!!!! I mean, how exactly did he know that it was 4x?? Somtimes feelings are not exactly right. The software cannot be even trusted, how can you feel it. Did he time it?? Well, if you can burn a full disc (4.9 g) WITHIN .. 15 minutes then I think he might have just got luckly.
