  1. Im converting a divx movie to svcd. I have my avi movie and My subs in *.Sub
When i play the movie in BSPlayer with the subs they are synch perfect.
Now i follow this guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm and when i get to the preview in virtualdub the subs get out of sync. It starts with under 1 sec, and is around 5-6 sec when the movie ends. I did follow all the steps in the guide, and have tryed several times.

Anyone know what i might be doing wrong ?

  2. I had a similar prob once. I found a good prog to resync the subs: Subsync. Use it like this:

    1. Open subsync, open the mediafile(the movie in question) and open the sub-file(must be in srt, smi or sub-format)

    2. Click 'edit subtitels'

    3. Postition on the first line(the text on this line itself should be colored blue)

    4. Now start your video and pauze as exactly as possible on the time where you want your first sub to begin. You can read the timing from the bottom of the screen. If this is correct, you have to push Sel Start(just above the time). Now click 'adjust'. As you can see in the editing screen, the timings changed(if you did it correct )

    5. Now do the exact same thing for the last sub. This time the sub-line should be green. To use this method, it is best that you delete any present credits(mostly added by the author of the subs) on the end of the movie.

    6. All you have to do now is to save your new subs, and maybe check them by closing subsync and re-opening it. Let the movie play to check the first line, choose some random spots in the movie to check, and off course the last line.

That should have done the trick. I just edited some subs this way when I wrote this and it worked.

  3. You can also enter your beginning and ending times from the Subtitle Editor. Switch to the Editor, go to Timing -> Stretch..., and make sure you're on the By Title tab. Enter the first and last subtitle times that you collected, and click Okay. This should adjust the times. This is the method that ended up working for me.

    Merry Christmas!
