  1. Hey,
got a question for you guys,
i got a movie im trying to backup, but i want an exact backup copy, (menus and all)...so im trying to transcode the movie down to a smaller size and stick it back into the rest of the video_ts folder....

ive pulled the main movie vobs after doing a full rip with smart ripper 2.41.
ive then taken the vobs and transcoded them 1 at a time to m2v's(i used rempeg so as to retain te gop structure)...
ive got my ac3 file that i want to place back within the movie.

but here is where im getting stuck....
how do i get the m2v files back into vobs?
and how to i go about remuxing the audio and video?
if i remux with tmpgenc doesnt the video have to be one complete file, since the audio is?

    thanks for the help =)

  3. played around with vobedit and not too sure what to do with it exactly, but i went to the home page (ifoedit.com) and found some docs that may be helpful...
gona transcode with rempeg to one m2v...
then follow thier guide to take that m2v file and mux it back into the vob structure....

    have you done this before?
does it sound promising, or do you think it is not the best path to accomplish what i want?

Used ReMPEG before with the IfoEdit and I have to say that while you can keep just about everything intact that the quality isn't the best if you have to reduce the size of the file below 70% the quality will degrade considerably. Unless you have something like CCE or TMPGEnc I wouldn't recommd it. The guides for producing IfoEdit compliant MPEGs do not work that well. he audio and video is skippy and jerk most of the time. Hopefully he wil get it down sometime.

  5. well, let me ask you a question...
i have cce and tmpgenc as well ( i use tmpgenc for all other types of projects) but i needed to retain the gop structure. will cce allow me to do this? tmpgenc will create new ones (to the best of my knowledge)

thanks for all the imput =0

  6. Read the post on Doom9 about DVD9 to DVD-r full backup. It tells you exactly how to do what your trying to do. I think what you do is basically reauthor the DVD, then use IFOupdate to fix the IFO's. I am currently trying to accomplish what you are doing, and I will say it is much more complicated than a "movie only" backup.
