  1. I've been searching the board and can't really see any reports of success at 2x with cheap media (<$1) on the Pioneer/Cendyne A05.
If that's the case I can't really see the point of upgrading from my recently purchased A04 that's known to work at 2x with FW 1,31 with the cheap Ritek x2 discs...

datasafe discs do the job well
I don't know exactly what you mean by "cheap".
In europe, a disc about 2 euros is cheap for example

  4. Hi,

I plan on installing the DVR-105 today! Can you offer the best way to encode and burn an .avi file to DVD?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  5. hey dude. this is completely OT
Do a search in DVD authoring!

On the other hand if you scan that Staples receipt of yours for the DVD A05, I'll be your pseronal adviser for a week !

  7. I consider Bulkpaq and Datasafe Media to be relatively cheap (about €1.50 per disk) and both burn fine at 2x (at least the latest generation of them, I think it is Generation 3), even though they are specified as 1x discs.

They play fine to the very last minute of every movie I burned so far (Pioneer DVD-Player) and not a single one has failed the Data Verification process of Nero, yet. Funny enough, the only time the burning processes failed giving me corrupted discs was, when I burned at 1x. Probably a heat issue, who knows.

  8. Bulkpaq are 45p each in UK, burn with prassi primoDVD at 2X no problem, I can't get Nero to write with my Pioneer 105 at 2x, but not that bothered about that, cause I'd only use Nero to back up PC stuff anyway. I highly recomend the Bulpaqs.

the riteks can burn at 2x on the A04, so i'm assuming (probably incorrectly) that it can burn at 2x on the A05/105 as well, but i don't know, because i too am looking for some good quality, cheap (sub $1) DVD-Rs for my DVR-105...but hopefully someone has some insight on the Riteks

  13. like I said, I don't think this assumption is valid (Ritek's only burn at 2x on A04 with 1.31)...surprised no one can chime in!

  15. Thanks for the link.
Not sure who's going to buy them though because allmediatoulet has them slightly cheaper and shipped free.
