  1. This question is actually very interesting.

Suppose I am converting a movie which is going to be put on 2 CDs.
I use the bitrate calculator, put the corresponding value in TMPGenc and
finally I have for example 1 660 000 bytes file. Which is perfect.
Now here is the real problem - how to split that file into 2 equal parts.
Normally if you use TMGenc for cutting you define the start and the end in seconds. But also normally if that file is of variable bitrate, and you split by time, i.e. to have 2 mpegs of equal time --- then their file size will be different.
Then you have the option to overburn the one, while the other will have empty space on the CD. (which is stupid)
Or even worse - the bigger part will not fit even with overburning.
Or you can try splitting again and again until you are satisfied.

Is that the best I can do ? Are there some more clever method ?

    thank you.
    Best wishes,
    UP

  2. You havent said whether or not you've tried all the mpg cutter/joiners from the tools section on this site.

    Try them, then report back.

    Good luck.

If you want to split by time, use BBMPEG.

  4. try mpegtools (not the mpegtools in TMPG but a different program). I use it all the time since I convert all my movies to 2 discs (SVCD). The program gives you strange framenumbers but if you set the slider to the middle it will cut your MPEG1/2 really fast and good with no audio/video sync-problems. I usually add 20 frames to the end of the first part and add 20 frames to the beginning of the second part (.... it gives you 2 seconds overlap.

Look here for the program: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/mpegtool.html

    Good luck
