  2. I talk in 728 kbits/sec (600 kbits/sec of video + 128 kbits/sec of audio), constant bitrate.

    Is there a standalone DVD player compatible with a 728 kbits/sec VCD 2.0 ?
    Myself.

    728kbit is NOT VCD 2.0
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

If the player is xvcd compatible it can likely play that low a bitrate vcd, but most people when they make an xvcd use higher bitrates or variable ones. You might have a problem with low bitrates if they are lower that about 300-500 depending on the player. I don't think you would want to make a cbr xvcd that low anyways but you may want to know how low it can go for vbr.

  7. Many people want a DVD player with divx compatability - unlikely to happen soon or at all - with divx 3.11a, 4.x, 5.x, xvid, etc. there are too many variations to play them all correct. And movie companies don't want to see divx succeed as they see it as a way to pirate their property.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  8. @ maxanime:

You've made a low bitrate XVCD. Any player that can play higher than normal bitrate XVCDs can "probably" play back a low bitrate XVCDs as well.

BTW, some players have problems playing back discs with a minimum bitrate set too low...

  9. I have a mintek 1600 and it can play low bitrates. The lowest I have made have been a low of 300. I normally make variable bitrate xvcd with 300-500 as a low and 1500-2000 as a max and it plays them fine.
