the quality will be no better than what the quality of the svcd is (well you can filter it some if nessessary) - every re-encode of a lossy format like mpeg will make the quality worse no mater what you do ... though you can make it pretty close. ..

as for the audio -- you could remix the 2ch mix to 5 channel and add delay to the surround and sum the LFE channel .. but it will not really sound any better and will not reconstruct the origanal 5:1 mix ..

though the aspect of playing it on a dvd disk vs. 2 or 3 cd's is a lot nicer ..

you will have to change the pic size though and re-encode only for that reason really, unless its a xvcd 720 x 480

  3. You cant have dolby digital in SVCD, check the specs.

Secondly, you can 5.1 multichannel mpeg, but god luck finding a DVD player & receiver that will output & decode (respecitively) the signal properly.

  5. k thanks for the responce so fast if 5.1 chanel is no better than i will not bother but i was not sure if i could take an svcd turn it in to an dvd format and some how get the doubly digital back but it makes sence that once you change the doubly digital to 2 chanel stereo
it is lost forever so the svcds i have will have to stay the way they are . dont get wrong they are good and sound good on my receiver the good thing is all my svcds are on 2 cds and i have a lot of them i think i will put them on a dvd . ps how about making the svcd audio pcm would that sound better because my standalone dvd player will support that ? just a thought thanks guys for your responce
