  1. If an Avi is converted to MPEG2 & then authored with ifo edit to create dvd files will this play on DVD standalone players if its on a normal cdr?

the reason I ask is because I am aware that miniDVD will not play on most standalone players because of the cdr reader speed & high bitrate of the stream but my file is a normal mpeg2 file created with avi2svcd

i thought this way the player may be tricked into thinking its a dvd???

any feedback would be much appreciated

It wont play on most players

  3. sorry if i sound a bit dumb here...

...but im not sure which category my file fits into!

because its obviously a vob file but with quite a small bitrate so its not really a mini dvd anyway is it?

my bush player plays it fine & recognises it as DVD on the onscreen display so im not sure why it wouldnt play on any other player.

Is it because of the bitrate or the media?

The DVD Player must be able to identify the CD-R/W miniDVD as a ordinary DVD-Video disc, many players identifies CD-R/W as VCD, SVCD or CD Audio and not DVD-Video.
