  1. Right. Just installed the drive on secondary master. Have updated the firmware to 100d successfully, and am using the latest version of nero.
I put in a princo dvd-rw, tried to rease it and get "erasing error".
So i put in a datawrite dvd-r, and tried to create a data dvd. All it did was cache the files, and at 100% and 26 seconds in it has stopped. The drive wont eject and the light is not on. Nero has just hung.
Im running winXP, and only have 160 meg free on c:\ - hence the need for the dvd writer. I dont think the low disk space is my problem though.
    Any other suggestions please?

Ive now got 4 gig spare, but any - media hangs in udma mode. However, if i use PIO mode, it works. the sony DVD+RW will work in udma though.
No success in xbox on any media though. Not even boxplorer see`s any files.

    Yo Scatfag,
Could be completely wrong, but have recently solved just such a similar situation in a mates PC. Check that you have sufficient power supply for the configuration U are using. Like most of us we keep adding more and more peripherals/drives and current P4's and XP's require usually minimum 350W Power supply. The mates machine would only read in PIO mode (Sony DVD rom) until we changed PS from 300 to 350. UDMA mode now available and no more unexplained crashes. FYI an XP 2100+ requires 70W to run...some old 300w PS will only supply 24W @ 3.3 or @ 1.75V 48W....not enuff. If this is not your problem then i'm sorry, my MP5125a (+R,+RW) works like a charm.
    Cheers
    Studebarc.

  5. Epox mobo, 2 X 20 gigs HDD, Sony DVD500a writer, nic card, pci exhaust card, sb live pci card, chasis fan, floppy drive.

    400 WATT PSU.

    Surely that should be sufficient?

EDIT - FFS, just checked and im running a 300WATT. Im sure i put a 400 in it a few months back. Oh well, ill try that. Thanks for the tip.
