I burned a vcd and it plays back fine on my pc, windows media player but when played on my panasonic DVD Player, the playback is jerky and distorted every few seconds and the sound gives off a very sharp sound every once in awhile making it almost impossible to watch. Does anyone know why this happens?

  2. Does your player support CDR/RW and VCD?
    What encoder are you using?
What is your source file format?

It sounds like it is a framerate or high bitrate problem (if you answered YES to the first question). Give more details if you want a proper answer.

I'm using PANASONIC XV10 dvd player. It claims to be able to play cdr/rw and vcd. I did not have to encode the file. It was a .tar file and after extraction, I get a .bin .cue file which I open the .cue file with nero (the latest version) and burn. Is there a way to solve this? It kinda sucks to be able to play on a cheap player whereas the expensive dvd player can't handle it.

PS. The first 10-20 minutes of the movie was fine. The problems started only in the middle of the movie or so but when viewed on my pc or another standalone vcd player, the problem was not there

  4. I"m having a similar problem, my VCD are have trouble playing on my JVC XV-S300, but when i played them on my girlfriends Toshiba SD2800 it works perfect, there is no jerkyness.

if it is the bitrate, what can we do to fix it?

    Thanks in advance

  5. ChiSholm,

To be honest, i've never dealt with BIN/CUE files. But i would assume (any better ideas welcome) you can solve the problem by converting your BIN/CUE file to Mpeg using VCDGear and then running it through TMPGEnc to make a compliant (S)VCD before burning with Nero as (S)VCD. This should help if your original was a X(S)VCD.

    punker096,

Is it a standard VCD? If yes, try burning with a lower speed (2/4x). If no, use TMPGEnc to encode your source file to VCD Mpeg1 using lower bitrate (use CDRW to test on your DVD player to avoid waste of CDs).

  6. Thank you very much for the replay, i jsut have one more question. How do i encode it into a MPEG 1 format?

If you know of any websites that would help you can alos post them.

However if it's not much of a problem, could you run through the process of encoding it into a MPEG 1 format?

    Thanks in Advance!
