Hi,
I just saw a review here on the Apex AD-1500 that claimed Apex no longer supports VCD. Apparently this was in response to a question posted on their web site.
I was just about to run out and get one after reading through most of the reviews here due to its great support for all types of media and formats.
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks!

Yes, Apex dropped VCD support so to save from paying license fees to Philips.
As for the "greatness" of Apex machines, you may want to reconsider. The media support of Apex (from comments on this forum) is not too good and although the Apex will play all sorts of off spec media files, it's PBC interpretation (which allows you to make menus, chapters, etc.) is not too good either. Of course, the newer Apex machines don't support VCD at all.

Interesting. Well I read through most of the comments posted for the AD-1100W here and they are overwhelmingly positive. I went ahead and "splurged" for $58 and picked one up.
It's working great so far. Played all the VCDs that my Panny A-110 wouldnt touch. So far I am happy. We'll see how it goes!
