With all the gurus on this site, I'm hoping there is an easy answer for this. "In a nutshell"... I used the same AVI file and encloded it with TMPGEnc 1) with the wizard DVD-NTSC VBR 7000, and 2) with the wizard DVD-NTSC CBR 8000. Both ran without incidence.

Using Sonic MyDVD (I agree not the best, but I do like the 'play-all' or just play 1 section). Can bring the VBR files in with no issue. However, it will not use the CBR files. MyDVD stops after 16 seconds on every file. Same identical files all work with VideoFactory.

Has anyone had a similar problem with encoding VBR vs. CBR. Although VBR is set higher bitrate (max 8K, avg 6K, min 2K), there is an improvement in clarity/quality using CBR. I have plenty of room on HD's and DVD disk. Files only about 2.5 GBs total when done.

    My system:
    P4 2.4GHz
    1GB DDR RAM
    OS: Win2K
    HD's: 130GB
    TMPGEnc V2.58 pro (Retail box)

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated...

I have just started using myDVD. I have a similar problem, but it is not the first 16 seconds, myDVD is only accepting the first 16 frames with 2 of the 4 8000 kbits/sec CBR clips I've tried so far. I went back to a couple of the TMPGEnc log files and I don't see any difference in the encoding parameters between the two clips.

I am using myDVD 3.5.1 and TMPGEnc Plus v2.58
