  1. I use DVD workshop v1.3 for authoring my DVD's with animated menu's, and overall I think the software is very good. I make ISO images on my hard drive so I can then easily burn copies to disc. My pioneer A04 drive came with 1 pioneer DVD-R and DVD workshop burned to this media at 2 speed with no problems.

I recently bought some zero defex 1 speed DVD-R from CD-R media.co.uk for £0.59 each. DVD workshop won't burn to these discs, just spits them out saying unable to write to media. You would be forgiven for thinking, oh well crap cheap media, what do you expect. However nero can burn the ISO image created in DVD workshop to this media no problem, and they have played in every stand alone DVD player I have tried so far, about 8 in total. Although they have refused to play in a couple of PC DVD-ROMS.

I suppose the message is, don't be too quick to blame the media, as in this case it seems to be DVD workshops burning engine at fault.

I thought I had a cheap media issue with DVD Movie Factory so I tried authoring and burning the same file in Nero and it worked fine.

Nero worked great with Maxell, Memorex, CompUSA, TDK, Verbatim.

DVD Movie Factory would not play right when burned on Maxell or CompUSA. It's mighty fussy about media.
