Hi I have DVD Workshop 2 which I have been using very successfully on Windows XP inc sp2 with fantastic results.

My question is - I would like to upgrade to Windows Vista 32bit soon, can ANYBODY confirm that it will still work or even better has this program working on Vista without problems. Have searched the internet but very little info found.

If it will not work which program that is Vista compatible with will be as good as DVD Workshop 2.

--- TDA 3 seems to get some great comments posted ---

All useful feed back greatly appreciated.

DVDWS2.x has not had an update patch in ages, and I don't think one is coming any time soon (I hope I am wrong).

As far as replacement software that is Vista Certified, what features do you consider a "must have" (multiple audio tracks, subtitles, 16:89 menus, menu setup/navigation control, etc...)?

    Regards,

    Thankyou for your reply

I only use Workshop 2 it to create menus. (single or multiple including adding music) I have tried a other recent Vista ulead program and the options seem very limited compared to Workshop 2. I like the fact that you have complete freedom and flexibility when you create your menus.

If that's the deciding factor, then I would recommend DVD Architect Studio 4.5 -- you get freedom in setting up your menu/navigation (no subtitles or multiple audio tracks though). But for ~$50 it's pretty powerful -- even has some features not found in DVDWS2.x

    Hi George

Thanks for the replies they have been useful.

But would still appreciate some feedback from actual Vista users to confirm that DVD Workshop 2 does or does not work on this operating system before I consider changing software.

A quick trip over to Ulead shows that their two current releases - VideoStudio and DVD Movie Factory - are both Vista certified, and there are upgrade patches for Vista for previous version of both of these. Not surprisingly there is nothing for DVD Workshop 2.

A lot of software runs quite happily under Vista without modification, even if it is officially certified. A lot doesn't, or behaves unexpectedly.

Personally, if it were me and I wanted to keep using the software and go Vista, I would go dual boot. Best of both worlds.

When I tried it I could not get it to work. I gave up more or less immediately though, so I might have missed something. Considering the fact that Ulead abandoned DVD Workshop several years ago, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I have stopped doing anything with Ulead. The fact that they still sell several pieces of software from their website, software they have abandoned years and years ago, is fraud IMHO, and I will not deal with people engaged in fraudulent business practices. If you have killed a product, stop selling it.
