  1. Hi

I have a Pinnaclesys PCTV card and I cant seem to capture in any resolution greater than 352x288 in Virtualdub. I have the latest driver and directx 8.1 and win98SE.

I can capture at 720x576 in WinDVR, but the audio has little skips in it. Has anyone else found this?

Also I cant seem to capture at any higher than 352x288 in PowerVCRII deluxe. Although I have heard of people with PCTV cards who can capture at higher resolutions.

So how do I either capture at higher resolutions in VirtualDUB (like 720x576) or how can i fix the dodgy audio in WinDVR or how can i get PowerVCr to work?

    My system is....

    Athlon 2 gig
    MSI KT3-Ultra-ARU motherboard
    40GB HDD 72000rpm
    512MB DDR ram (PC266)
    Pinnaclysys PCTV card
Realtek on-board AC'97 sound card (although i also have tried a creative labs card but this doesnt seem to help).

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Jengiz, if you follow this link, you can download the Pinnacle PCTV V4.02a
driver. Before you run it though you must also download the registry cleaning utility from pinnacles' site. Once you've uninstalled the other driver & run the driver registry cleaning utility then you can use the V4.02a driver. Its older, but its a VFW driver & hence it'll work fine with VirtualDub,AVI_IO etc. You'll be able to capture in greater than 352x288
but make sure both overlay & preview modes are switched off for maximum speed & size.

However go to the following links....
    http://www.pinnaclesys.com/docsupport1.asp?division_id=1&langue_id=2&product_id=6&prod...CTV&page_id=62

    or
    ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.de/driver/pc/pctv/

Look for the Version 4.02a driver.

I have the same MSI-mobo and PCTV card on a dual boot system (win98se and XP). Never had that problem except with Vdub, coz doesnt work with WDM driver. I'm using VirtualVCR, Power Director or Ulead VS6 to capture. No probs capturing at 720x480 8000kbps data rate. No dropped frames.
I didnt swith to the v4.x VFW driver.
