cd-rom plays mpeg but not divx avi????

I burned a couple movies for a friend, shes got an gateway pent II 386, 96 mb ram with 8 gigs and cd-rom. WMP plays the encoded mpeg movies fine from the cd-rom, but when I put in a PNY cd with a divx avi file, the cdrom seems to flash a couple of times, then stops. WMP finally opens, but the movie is never loaded. Whats the dif between an mpeg and a avi? I installed all the codecs. I would have thought the mpeg would have been harder on the cd-rom. Could this be a software conflict maybe? info appeciated!

mpeg and divx avi are COMPLETELY different things, apart from being A/V. try the nimo codec pack to get your divx movies playing right.
