I am going to get a Sony DRU-500A from Best Buy later today. Does anyone know what Best Buy's return policy is for DVD burners? I looked on their website, but can't seem to find that. I see that for some things they charge a 15% restocking fee if the box is open. I hope this is not the case with DVD burners.

CircuitCity has a 15 day no questions asked return policy... if possible go there.
BB 15% is enforced... don't let the sales people tell you otherwise they tend to say whatevers necessary to make the sale. -
The reason I wanted to go to Best Buy is because I have a coupon for 10% off. That would take about $35 off of the price. I will probably wind up getting it from Best Buy because Circuit City is sold out. Another choice is CompUSA. I'll have to check their return policy. Thanks for replying.

CompUSA is the worst of them all for the restocking fees. No matter what happens, they will charge you. Even if you buy something and you just legitimately can't get it to run with your system- you're paying a restocking fee.

Circuit City will match BB prices and coupns if you get a good sales person.

BB's price guarantee, returns and exchange policy is 30 days EXCEPT for computer related items - they are all 14-days.
As for restocking - my receipt says the following:
Restocking Fees will be applied to ANY product not returned in 'like new condition' including missing the original box, packaging materials, or contents, accessories or manuals. A 15% restocking fee will be charged on returns or exchanges of any opened: notebook computer, camcorder, digital camera or radar detector, unless defective.
There you have it !! -
I have never been charged any kind of restocking fee from BestBuy. As long as you retain ALL of the materials that come with the item, and return it with-in the time allowed.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
me nither... and dont remeber a restocking fee from compusa either... unless i didnt pay much attention
