This 4X DVD-R is very expensive, it cost $8.5 per pcs before shipping charge!

Any one know will this media work with the Sony DRU-500A burner?
If it doesn't work, I am going to return my Sony burner and get the Pioneer 105 drive, it cost $50 less...

Pioneer DVD-R media (2X) has always been the most expensive
I can think of, so this isn't a big surprise.

We eill just have to wait till other manufacturers (Verbatim and the cheaper-still brands come out with their 4X media).
Princo 4X DVD-R media might be out relatively soon, according to what one vendor told me.

Given all the problems with the Sony drive and media compatability, I would not even consider it until they have a firmware upgrade that allows it to work with less expensive media. $8.50!!! Yeah, I know you get what you pay for, but why should you have to spend more than $2 TOPS for decent media? 8)

    I agree about media prices:
I have been paying under $2 a piece for 2X DVD-R media and they play fine on my home DVD players.

$8.50 for Pioneer 4x-rated DVD-R media including shipping is not that expensvie considering how expensive Pioneer 2x DVD-R media has been. Only a few months ago, $5 for 2x Pioneer or Mitsui was considered reasonably priced for many. The first DVD+R media cost somewhere around $10. Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim 4x DVD-R will be much cheaper and more easily available.

Go to the sites tht sell the cheaper media if price is a consideration. I understand some don't like to wait for that DVD to be finished, but always remember, the Model T was slow ,too, but not for long......
