  1. I purchased the entire compilation of The Simpsons on VCD. At the time all I knew was that VCDs would play on just about anything...but these won't play on anything I have. I tried to use some of the guides on this sight but I am shamefully ignorant of terms (like MP3, convert, compliant format). I do know that Media Player couldn't play any of them, although I did get just sound out of one of them. Please help. The Simpsons are my passion and my tapes are getting worn out. Thanks!

P.S. I know that this is something easily fixed, but I don't have any clue how.

  2. You need a DVD or VCD software player to play VCDs on your computer. For example, PowerDVD can play VCDs. I know that there is a Chinese freeware program that can play VCDs but I forget the name of the program. It is something like SHSDVD.

Most DVD standalone players cannot play VCDs. You need one that can play VCDs.

A lot of stand alone DVD players will play VCD, particularly if they are pressed rather than burned.

  7. Craig,

I know that some stand alone DVD players can play VCDs but many more cannot. Furthermore, many commercial VCDs are in PAL, so you almost need a DVD player that can convert PAL to NTSC such as the Philips DVD-724, the Apex-1500 and others.

I didn't know that media player could play VCDs through the .dat file. Thanks for the info.

I am from England so fortunately for me nearly all DVD players support
    PAL and NTSC
