  1. Hi - I'm trying to use my Geforce 2 Ti500 card with VIVO to capture in virtual dub. I've done it many times before and it's worked fine. However, when I try to do it now, I get the following message:

"you cannot use this device when another video application such as DVD, video conferencing, video editing, TV viewers, or WebTV for windows is already using it. To use this device for your current application, close the application that is using it"

The problem is that I'm most definitely not running any of those applications. I've ever pressed ctrl-alt-delete to view the list of processes to see if anything is running in the background that I don't know about. There's nothing however. Obviously the error message is in error so does anyone know any way round it?

    Thanks

  3. I tried that and unfortunately it didn't help. The weird thing is that when I try to use Power VCD it works fine. The drivers seem ok - just seems to be some kind of bug that's developed in relation to virtual dub. Odd.

  4. I had the same error but w/ a ATI Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro and Virtual Dub. Here are the steps I took to fix it, unfortunatly this is not an exact science... I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the ATI MMC and display driver (same error). I tried poking at the windows 2000 registry as discribed on virtualdub.org (I already had all the entries). I reinstalled Windows 2000 service pack 3 (same error). then I figured I was going to have to re-install my OS to fix it, so before I did I deleted all the hardware out of my device manager and let windows find/reinstall it again. That did the trick. (remember to gather up all your driver disks before you try this trick and backup stuff... I did it w/out a net but I'm just like that 8) )

I wish I had a more technical explanation as to why that worked but... I have some capturing to do

  5. Strangely enough, through no tinkering of my own, or any change to the system setup. it decided to work again. Weird.
