  1. I download movies on Kazaa and I would like to transfer them to VCD and watch them on my DVD players. So, I need to know what format they are so I know what kind of tutorial to read when burning it.

Or, maybe some of you are more familiar with burning Kazaa movies and could explain what to do.

  2. Most are divx files. If you can play them you have the codec, if not you'll need a divx codec (3.11a, 4.0, 5.x).

    How to convert to VCD:

Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

First off asking a question about movies your downloaded off of Kazaa comes pretty close to asking a question about warez: http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/0,,sid9_gci213338,00.html
I'll leave it to others to decide, but to give you a simplistic answer to your question there is no single format associated with file types you download off of any file sharing application. It could be avi, .mpg, .mpeg, .mov, ect, each needing a different approach for conversion. I'm sorry but your question is too generalized to give you a specific answer.
    Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

  4. There is no such thing as kazaa movies. You sure can get movies thru many peer to peer programs, but what way you get them from means nothing. Mostly, you'll get DivX files, and some VCDs... Sure, there is more than that out there... But 99.9% of the stuff out there isn't legit...

  5. The only answer i can think of to your question is:-

open my computer, go to tools then folder options

click the view tab and then uncheck 'hide file extensions for
known file types' then click apply.

Your movies should have an extension of

    .avi .mpg .mov

If this doesn't help then be more specific cause you've lost me now!

  7. Yes, the movie could be one of many formats, you don't "get" them from Kazaa, they're from somebody who encoded a movie. Kazaa just links you to him or her.

Interesting note on the "WAREZ" question. Both the quoted link and the definition given from the post window warning specifically reference "software" and "applications". An encoded video file is neither.
